On April 22, 1970, Tom Seaver received his 1969 Cy Young Award plaque in a pre-game ceremony and then took the mound to face the Padres. Seaver struck out 19 hitters, and the last ten consecutively, setting a previous NL record. The 10-straight puncouts remains undefeated in major league history.
