The devastating news that Mets legend and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Tom Seaver passed away came late on Wednesday night. The 75-year-old left us peacefully in his sleep due to complications from Lewy body dementia and COVID-19.
Seaver is the Mets all-time leader in WAR (78.8), ERA (2.57), wins (198), games started (395), and many many other categories.
Tom Terrific opened Citi Field with the first pitch back in 2009, throwing it to former Mets catcher Mike Piazza.
Tom Seaver was a larger than life baseball Icon, he embodied all that is desired in a player and a man, dedicated, loyal, sincere and fiercely competitive. Showed strength and dignity during his recent suffering. He will be missed #Mets #TomSeaver

Mets current ace Jacob deGrom had this to say about The Franchise, “Saddened to hear of the passing of Tom Seaver. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to meet him. Seeing the person he was on and off the field, he is definitely someone I look up to.”
Seaver was elected to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992 when received a record at the time 98.8% of the vote.
The great Vin Scully is now on Twitter and shared his thoughts on the passing of Seaver.
Tom Seaver was the best RH pitcher I ever saw. RIP Tom Terrific. https://t.co/TzVmEGlIqF
