Good morning, Mets fans! March has officially begun, which means that Opening Day is a little over three weeks away!
On Saturday, the Mets notched a late-inning victory against the Houston Astros by a score of 2-1. Pitching was the name of the game and Steven Matz led the charge, pitching two scoreless innings and giving up just one hit. Franklyn Kilome, Stephen Gonsalves, Peter Tago, Jordan Humphreys, and Adonis Uceta would all go on to pitch scoreless innings of their own, with Uceta picking up a save in his clean ninth inning. The Astros’ only run of the day came in the fourth, as David Peterson allowed Houston to score on a sacrifice fly.
The Mets offense was stagnant until the very last inning, when Jake Hager doubled in Will Toffey, and Max Moroff subsequently doubled in Hager.
