With the trade deadline nearing, Clay Holmes has surfaced as a name the Mets could deal—especially in a thin starting pitcher market. The only problem is he hasn’t pitched in an MLB game since May 15 due to a fractured leg. Before that, he notched a 2.39 ERA across 52 2/3 innings this year, providing the only level of consistency in the Mets rotation to that point.

He’ll pitch tonight for the St. Lucie Mets in Dunedin at 6:30 p.m. rather than a higher-level affiliate due to rain in the northeast.
Other highlights from this evening’s slate:
- Daviel Hurtado, one of the team’s most intruiging lefty prospects, pitches for Brooklyn (if the game vs. Winston-Salem isn’t postponed). As of publishing, the game is scheduled to start on time at 6:40 p.m.
- Tobias Myers is starting for the Syracuse Mets. Ronny Mauricio, who is on a home run tear, is starting at second base and batting third tonight. Mike Tauchman continues his rehab with Syracuse, too.
- Binghamton’s game was postponed, delaying Mitch Voit‘s debut.
