Good morning to all you Amazin’ Mets fans!
The New York Mets had a day off yesterday, following their Subway Series double-header on Tuesday, which they split taking one game apiece. New York won’t have much time to rest in the near future, as the Mets will play 18-straight games with no more days off in the the month of June.
Tonight the Mets will start their four-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals, with Jacob deGrom (3-6, 3.45 ERA) set to face Jack Flaherty (4-3, 4.08 ERA). After allowing seven runs (six earned), against the Marlins on May 17th, deGrom has settled in to a pretty nice grove. Over his last four starts, deGrom has allowed six runs across 23 2/3 innings pitched for a 2.28 ERA.
The last time Flaherty took the mound for the Cardinals, he failed to make it out of the fourth inning after struggling mightily with his control. Flaherty walked three batters and allowed four runs, before being pulled from the game with two outs in the fourth inning after throwing 96 pitches (50 strikes). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 and the game will be televised on SNY.
