With the call-up of Rockies’ infield prospect Garrett Hampson, MLB Pipeline decided to update their Top 100 Prospects List for the 2019 season.

The newest addition who slots in at number 100, is Mets’ shortstop prospect, Ronny Mauricio.

Mauricio, 18, was signed by the Mets in 2017 through the international market in which he received $2.1 million from the club.

In his first season in professional baseball, Mauricio played in 57 games between the GCL Mets and Kingsport Mets (mostly spend with the first one) in which he hit .273/.304/.410 with three home runs and 35 RBI. He also had 16 doubles and three triples.

His strong start to his minor league career despite only being 17-years-old at the time prompted the organization to let him start the season with the Columbia Fireflies in 2019.

The shortstop is off to a hot start as he is hitting .345/.390/.400 with one double, one triple, and three RBI in 13 games played in which he has registered 55 at-bats.

Prior to the start of the season, FanGraphs had him ranked as the 68th best prospect in all of baseball while Baseball America ranked him 98th overall. In our MMO Top 25 Prospects rankings, we rated him as the third-best prospect in the organization.
