Harper To Decide This Week
According to USA Today’s Bob Nigthengale, Bryce Harper is hoping to make a decision on his next team by the end of the week. According to multiple reports, multiple teams have jumped back into the Harper sweepstakes in the last week hoping for a discounted price.
Nightengale says “Harper is expected to make his decision by the end of this week. This chase for Harper, or Harper’s chase for at least $300 million, has lasted so long that now teams are jumping in to see if they can get him at a discount rate.”
Sox “Unlikely” To Add To Pen
According to Dave Dombrowski himself via WEEI in Boston, the Red Sox seem unlikely to add to a questionable bull pen. After losing Craig Kimbrel and Joe Kelly to the open market, the Boston bullpen now leaves a lot to be desired.
Dombrowski is quoted to have said: “As far as signings are concerned I would say we’re through at this point,” explained Dombrowski. “That doesn’t mean that won’t be a priority just because of how we shape up. It’s something to kind of follow in spring training as you follow other things, I can’t rule that out. We don’t have anything going outside the organization. We stay in contact with people and see if there is anything that becomes a situation that makes sense.”
Jays Looking To Add Arms To Pen
According to The Athletic’s Robert Murray, the Toronto Blue Jays are looking to add to their bullpen with a few veteran arms. The Jays were looking into adding Sergio Romo before he decided on taking his talents to South Beach.
Murray tweeted “Blue Jays expressing interest in a number of free-agent relievers, including right-hander Adam Warren.” Among the free agent relievers not mentioned by Murray are closer Craig Kimbrel, Tony Sipp, Jim Johnson, former Met AJ Ramos, and Alex Wilson.
