Drew Smith made his major league debut with the Mets out of the bullpen tonight in the ninth inning. Smith pitched a scoreless inning giving up no hits, no runs though he did walk two.

Hitting

In the bottom of the second inning, the Mets started to get their offense rolling with a double right down the right-field line by Michael Conforto. Then the next batter Jose Bautista cranked a double down the left field line to tie the game 1-1.

Two batters later Todd Frazier hit a dribbler to third baseman Justin Turner, Turner misplayed it which got Frazier to reach base with runners at 1st and 2nd now. Then with Wilmer Flores up at bat, Wilmer drove in the go-ahead run with a hard-struck single pass the shortstop to left field to score deGrom making it a 2-1 lead for the Mets.

Jose Bautista homered for the second straight day in the bottom of the eighth to cut the Mets deficit to 8-3.
