The Washington Nationals started their offseason by announcing that manager Dusty Baker and his staff would not be returning for the 2018 season despite back-to-back National League East division titles.

They have now rounded out their staff as they hired Derek Lilliquist to be their pitching coach and Tim Bogar as first base coach according to Mark Suckerman of MASN Sports.

Lilliquist had been the St. Louis Cardinals pitching coach the previous six seasons and replaces Mike Maddux who is now the Cards pitching coach. The former Met Bogar had been the Seattle Mariners’ bench coach the last two seasons.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported on Wednesday that the Nationals hired Chip Hale to be their bench coach under new manager Dave Martinez.

Hale, former Mets third base coach, was reportedly a candidate for the Mets and Philadelphia Phillies managerial openings this offseason.

The Nationals also hired another former Met coach when they chose Kevin Long to be their new hitting coach last week.
