Nashville 5, Las Vegas (29-23) 1

The 51’s were unable to avoid their 6th straight loss while being held to a combined 7 runs over that span. Tyler Pill was on the mound pitching fairly well before he ran into trouble in the 6th (2 runs) and the 7th (1 run) leading him to pick up the lose in three consecutive starts. Pill went 7 innings allowing five runs on nine hits (2 HR’s), BB, wild pitch, while striking out three batters. Pill has now given up 28 hits and 18 runs over his last three starts with his ERA now sitting at 6.96 with the league hitting .295 against him. Cody Satterwhite threw a perfect 8th inning with a strikeout bouncing back from giving up three runs in 0.1 of an inning.

Las Vegas has struggled mightily to score runs during their current 6-game losing streak and have scored more than four runs just twice in the last 11 games. They could only muster five hits and walks with Wilfredo Tovar collecting two hits while playing third base. Matt Reynolds was 1-4 knocking in the 51’s only run in the 8th with his 17th double tying him for 2nd in the PCL. Here is video of the 2B. The RBI was his 29th of the year but he saw his batting average drop to .271 on the year. Jayce Boyd was 1-4 in his 4th AAA game and has reached based six times in the four games. T.J. St. Lucie (26-25) 5, Fort Myers 1

St. Lucie won its 4th straight game putting them over .500 since May 4th thanks to starter Logan Taylor who pitched 7 scoreless innings. Taylor was making his 8th start of the season, finally picking up his first win allowing just three hits and three walks while striking out four hitters. Taylor induced 11 groundball outs lowering his ERA to 4.96 and his average against to .262. Mike Hepple pitched the last two innings giving up one run on four baserunners while striking out four hitters. Hepple has now given up just 18 hits in his 25 innings of work. pitching to a 2.16 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP.

L.J. Mazzilli made a triumphant return from his 50-game suspension with a 2-4 night hitting a two-run homerun in the 3rd inning to break the 0-0 tie. The reigning FSL player of the week Dominic Smith extended his hitting streak to 14 games on a double to left center field. Smith also doubled to in the 7th inning giving him his league leading 16th of the year. Smith is now hitting .267/.308/.393 on the year after hitting 17-42 (.405) with 8 doubles, HR, and 12 RBI’s. Jeff McNeil extended his hitting streak to 9-games with his 2nd triple of the year, going 1-5 lowering his season average to .344. Maikis De La Cruz was 2-4 with his 23rd RBI of the season, he is hitting .300 over his last 10 games boosting his line to .281/.332/.392 on the year. Amed Rosario had a rare off night going 0-4 with two strikeouts, failing to get a hit just the 3rd time in 20 games. Box Score

Asheville 5, Savannah (24-27) 3

Brad Wieck was looking for his third straight win but lasted just 5.1 innings picking up his 5th loss of the season while raising his ERA to 3.49. In his 5.1 innings he allowed four runs on six hits, a walk, while striking out six strikeouts padding his league leading to strikeout total to 64. He has given up 46 hits in 49 innings and has allowed just two homeruns all year. Dawrin Frias went 1.2 innings giving up a solo homerun and picked up three strikeouts. Alberto Baldonado pitched a scoreless 8th not giving up a hit lowering the leagues average against him to .175.

Patrick Biondi was in the leadoff spot again going 2-5 scoring a run with two stolen bases giving him 10 on the year. Jon Leroux was 2-4 and is now 7-21 with 2 homeruns over his 6 games raising his average to .213 on the year. Wuilmer Becerra was 1-4 with his 11th double driving in his 23rd run of the year, he is hitting .333 over his last 10 games.
