The 2021 Mets season is finally here after a busy offseason that included a new owner, new front office, and multiple important player acquisitions.

I used a variety of sources and/or career numbers to come up the over/under figures. 15 members of the MMO team answered the following over/under questions.

  • Pete Alonso 42.5 home runs: 13 over, 2 under
  • Francisco Lindor 31.5 home runs: 9 over, 6 under
  • Edwin Diaz 40.5 saves: 6 over, 9 under
  • Jacob deGrom 244.5 strikeouts: 12 over, 3 under
  • Marcus Stroman 3.749 ERA: 2 over, 13 under
  • Players to make MLB debut 4.5: 5 over, 10 under
  • Mets wins 91.5: 10 over, 5 under
  • Brandon Nimmo .3999 OBP: 9 over, 6 under
  • Jeff McNeil OPS .8849 OPS: 5 over, 10 under
  • Players in Top 20 MVP voting 2.5: 12 over, 3 under
  • Pitchers to make start (non-openers): 12 over, 3 under
  • Bullpen ERA 4.109: 6 over, 9 under
  • Players with double digit HR 7.5: 13 over, 2 under
  • Starter ERA 3.759: 5 over, 10 under

We didn’t have any that were unanimous, but the MMO team felt strongly that Pete Alonso would have more than 42.5 homers, Marcus Stroman would have an ERA under 3.749 (his career number), and that the Mets would have more than 7.5 players reach double digits in home runs in 2021.

The most important question asked was the Mets win total of 91.5, 10 said over and five had under. FanGraphs has the Mets projected for 92 wins and the NL East division title.
