Mets Still Undecided If They’re Buyers Or Sellers

While recent reports have stated that the New York Mets might be open for business, their general manager Sandy Alderson was less sure when asked about the topic on Friday afternoon at Citi Field.

Alderson was asked by a reporter if the Mets were realistically playing for this season and how much interest they have received on their players. The first response from Sandy was “we need more wins, we’re 10 games under .500 and we need to see some improvement in our win-loss record almost immediately.”

The Mets GM also admitted he’s had talks with other teams, but they haven’t been substantive up to this point. He was also unsure where the Mets fell into the trade market at this point, refusing to saying definitely if Mets were sellers or buyers.

“There are a few teams that are going to be buyers, there are a few teams that are already sellers and there’s a bunch of teams in the middle. I would put us in the middle.”

The Mets have pending free agents Jeurys Familia, Jerry Blevins and Asdrubal Cabrera as the obvious trade chips when/if the Mets decide to sell this year.
