Oh, ROY… Here’s a BARRY Interesting Situation…

It was revealed a few hours ago that the Mets were offered Cy Young winner Roy Halladay for a collection of Bobby Parnell, Fernando Martinez, Jon Niese, and Ruben Tejada and Omar Minaya rejected the trade.  Many seem to see this as a way of giving up, and it could appear that way.  But let’s take a look at what we’re doing, not what we’re giving up, and what Omar must be thinking in rejecting [...]

Losing Is A Disease

“Losing is a disease. …as contagious as polio.  Losing is a disease. …as contagious as syphilis.  Losing is a disease. …as contagious as bubonic plague.  Attacking one. … but infecting all.  But curable.” This is some dialogue that I’m sure most of you are familiar with.  It is taken from the movie “The Natural,” one of the best baseball-related movies ever made. In this scene, the New York Knights are having a sports psychologist speak to the [...]

All Star Break Can’t Come Soon Enough.

The All Star Break can’t come soon enough for this Mets team.  Unfortunately, Major League Baseball has something else in mind. In a landmark case, Major League Baseball has decided to postpone the All Star Game for one week. In an effort to boost viewership and to improve the experience of all in attendance, the decision was made in the late hours Thursday night by the Commissioner’s office. The staff at Metsmerized Online were able [...]

The Mets Ain’t Half Bad, But They Ain’t Half Good Either

Even though the All Star Break doesn’t reach us for another week, the official halfway point of the season (81 games) came yesterday after the Mets 2-0 loss to the Phillies. The New York Mets find themselves four games behind the division leading (and Mets-fan hated) Philadelphia Phillies. The “official” first half ended with a record of 39-42, tied with the Atlanta Braves for third place in the NL East. All this despite one injury [...]

It Feels Like September in June

Now, as Jose Reyes is put on the DL and viruses and other nagging injuries are affecting more of the Mets, it feels like they are all jumping overboard while that big ship known as the Philadelphia Phillies has just blown right by, making the water choppy around those NYM lifeboats.

Disappointing Road Trip With Amazin’ Results

I have to say that I was rather disappointed with this road trip. I know! I know! They lost one-fourth of their roster. Still, I feel the Mets should’ve really gotten on a winning streak here. They did well against the San Francisco Giants. I’ll take three out of four from them. They were up against a Dodgers team that was without Manny Ramirez. The Mets beat themselves during that series. There was no reason [...]

Ollie To DL, Niese Recalled

Beleaguered Mets starter Oliver Perez will have time to sort out his 9.97 ERA, as the Mets have officially put him on the 15 day disabled list retroactive to May 3rd. An MRI revealed patellar tendinitis (medical translation: his kneecap hurts). Top prospect Jon Niese will be recalled from AAA Buffalo, and will make the start Friday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Added to by Joe D.: Mets GM Omar Minaya addressed reporters after the [...]

Serious Problems With Mets Organization

Curious? Yes I am bringing this up because I am tired of talking about the players too. Here it is so simply a child can understand it: People placed in power are afraid of their higher-ups. Did you catch that? No? I’ll say it again for you: People placed in power are afraid of their higher-ups. Why? Well think about it. A lot has happened over the past few days, other than the Oliver Perez [...]
