Of course, you must have known I’d have a Custom MMO GFX ready to go for this occasion… In case you missed the big news, the New York Mets have promoted Wilmer Flores from Triple-A Las Vegas. The timing couldn’t be more perfect for the Mets and even Flores who celebrates his 22nd birthday today. This was the correct move for the Mets as it keeps Daniel Murphy at second base and Eric Young in […]
According to Terry Collins, Jon Niese threw a bullpen session today and will appear in rehab games starting next week. He will begin his rehab stint with the Gulf Coast Mets. Niese has been off his game this year, pitching to a 4.32 ERA in 14 starts that have spanned 77.0 innings. He has given up 91 hits and 33 walks over that time period, while striking out just 49. In other pitching related news, […]
With the New York Mets (41-50) about to embark on the second half of the the 2013 season, I hit up two dozen of our MMO writers for their overall grades by position for our Mid-Season Report Cards. For added measure we also included Terry Collins, Sandy Alderson and Mr. Met who was the only one to score an A+. So without further ado, here’s our 2013 Mid-Season Mets Report Cards. Terry Collins C- TC […]
The Mets got some great news Monday when the team announced that MRI results on Jon Niese showed that there was no structural damage in his shoulder besides some ordinary wear and tear. Once you start delving into the world of tears in rotator cuffs, no matter how small, you’re headed into some dangerous territory. Niese was cleared by doctors to begin a throwing program in Port St. Lucie, a good sign that means he’s not far […]

While his team boarded a flight to San Francisco for the start of a three game series, pitcher Shaun Marcum boarded another plane bound for St. Louis to be examined for numbness and tingling in his cold right hand. He will be visiting with the same specialist who diagnosed Dillon Gee with a damaged artery in his pitching shoulder and a blood clot. Ultimately it led to season ending surgery for Gee. For now, the plan is to […]
Contributed by Mike Stainkamp who you can follow on Twitter at @mikestainkamp34. Matz continues to improve while staying healthy A few weeks ago, Mets fans saw something that they’ve been waiting years to see: two top-prospect arms mowing down Braves hitters. Matt Harvey and Zack Wheeler pitched both ends of a doubleheader, Wheeler, of course, making his big league debut. To say the future is bright for the Mets is an understatement, at least in terms […]
This from ESPN New York: Mets starter Shaun Marcum visited the team doctor on Tuesday, according to a source. Marcum started Monday against Arizona, and was seen in the dugout rolling his neck and pointing to his shoulder area. He told reporters after the game that he was fine. Marcum was evasive following the Mets’ 9-1 win over Arizona on Tuesday when asked whether he underwent an MRI. “That’s for me and the club,” Marcum said. “I […]
The Mets defeated the Diamondbacks at Citi Field on Tuesday night by a score of 9-1. Jeremy Hefner earned his third win of the season with another solid start, and New York handed Patrick Corbin his first loss. The game started slowly for both teams, with both Hefner and Corbin dealing out of the gate. Anthony Recker broke a scoreless tie with a solo shot to left in the bottom of the fifth, giving the Mets […]
