Sandy Alderson was a guest of Mike Francesa on WFAN today and said a few things that are worth discussing… Aside from the usual dialog about how everything is going according to plan and things are going as well as expected, there were a few things worth noting and I’ll post on each one. First thing’s first, Matt Harvey… While he said the injury to his ace has had an impact, “It’s not as significant […]
The Mets know it. We know it. Hell, he knows it too. When people projected the future rotation for 2014 or 2015, Dillon Gee was never the first name that came to mind. Even Jeremy Hefner heard his name tossed around more because of his experience working out of the pen. Matt Harvey, Zack Wheeler, Jon Niese, Rafael Montero, Noah Syndergaard, Jenrry Mejia…yeah, those are the names — and Gee finds himself excluded, through no […]
If you are a Mets fan, you know that David Wright is still with team, or that Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran are in Toronto and St. Louis, respectively. But what happened to guys like Nick Evans or Rod Barajas? We have the answers. 11 Players who made it into a game in 2010 with the Mets, are still employed by the team. That would be the aforementioned David Wright, Ike Davis, Ruben Tejada (Although […]
Mets GM Sandy Alderson appeared as a guest on ESPN Radio with Mike Lupica on Wednesday, and said that the injury to Matt Harvey will not change the team’s plans going forward. “It’s not a dream unrealized,” Alderson said. “It may be a dream deferred.” His goals remain the same which he says is to “stockpile talent and lower the payroll to reinvest in team and win ballgames.” Alderson said that losing Harvey is a […]
Good news… The Mets announced that Jenrry Mejia had successful surgery to remove the bone spur that was wreaking havoc on his right elbow. Everything went well, and Jenrry will have plenty of time to get ready for next Spring. I didn’t want to write an entire post on this so I thought I’d add a quick update to Sagar’s post based on it’s relevancy…. Original Post 11:00 AM With the Dark Knight down and […]
This past week it was revealed that the one time Mets closer, Frank Francisco, or as I like to call him, “The Human Sloth”, resurfaced in a pair of games for the GCL Mets. To date, he has given up two runs in four games while striking out six. He is rehabbing from what supposed to be minor surgery to clean out debris from his throwing elbow. In addition to the fact that he has yet to […]
It is becoming more and more evident that quality pitching is the hub of a pending baseball renaissance in New York’s Citi Field. Win or lose, a cadre of young pitching arms have kept the Mets competitive in Flushing for some two months now with Met pitching underlings tearing up the minor leagues at every level. The pitching uptick has many of the Met faithful thinking their turn in the sun may arrive sooner than anticipated. […]
While New York Mets closer Bobby Parnell continues on the shelf with the prospect of surgery on his herniated disk, the question burns: What are he and the Mets waiting for? Perhaps he can rehab to where surgery isn’t needed, but those odds are getting long. Yes, yes, it is his body and nobody can force surgery upon him, but reading between the lines, if it doesn’t happen, Parnell will risk not being ready for spring training […]
In an effort to bolster the rotation after injuries to Jeremy Hefner and Jenrry Mejia, the New York Mets today announced the club agreed to terms with righthanded pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka on a one-year contract. Matsuzaka will wear #16 and will start tomorrow’s night game against Detroit. A corresponding move will be announced prior to tomorrow’s game. Matsuzaka, 32, pitched in Cleveland’s organization this season, making 19 starts for Columbus (AAA) of the International League. […]
