Mets Should Retire # 17 In 2011
No I’m not talking about retiring number 17 for Fernando Tatis and the few weeks he produced for the Mets. Before Tatis there was another player for the Mets who wore 17. From June 15, 1983 to October 1, 1989 he wore 17 proudly for the New York Mets. This player won 5 Gold Gloves while he played 1st base. This player was a team captain. This player was a big reason why the Mets [...]

The Mets Lied To Us
Thankfully there are only 6 more games left of this horrible season. That also means only 6 more games left of some jerryball. Last year after the season ended the Mets did a bit of a media blitz that concluded with Jeff Wilpon, Omar Minaya and Dave Howard going on WFAN with Mike Francesa. They made a bunch of promises and some excuses that for some reason had Mets fans hopeful for 2010. I posted [...]

Sean Green, Luis Castillo Close To Return, Fernando Tatis Out For The Season
Before Thursday’s game against the San Francisco Giants, Jose Reyes was scratched from the lineup. He had discomfort in his right oblique, and will be shut down until he is 100 percent. Reyes hasn’t swung from the left side of the plate since last Sunday. Mets will continue to have rookie Ruben Tejada play short with Alex Cora playing second base for now. For those of you who don’t like the idea of Alex Cora playing [...]

Mets DL Fernando Tatis, Recall Raul Valdes
Anthony McCarron of the Daily News is reporting that the Mets recalled left handed reliever Raul Valdes from Triple-A Buffalo and that he will be available for tonight’s game. Valdes was 0-1 with a 3.68 ERA in 29.1 innings pitched this season. To make room for Valdes, Fernando Tatis was placed on the 15-day DL with a sprained right shoulder. The Mets said Tatis will undergo further testing at the Hospital for Special Surgery tomorrow. Jerry [...]

Can The Mets Win With The Wilpons As Owners?
When a team in any sport is struggling everyone from the general manager to the coaches/manger to the players take the blame. In some cases like the Mets it’s true. Omar Minaya needs to go as does Jerry Manuel and most of his coaching staff. I know of a certain pitcher making $36 million dollars that’s now in the bullpen that needs to be released and a couple of guys on the bench should be [...]

Nieve Struggles Again, Mets Lose 5-3
R.A. Dickey made his first start as a Mets filling in for the recently DL’d Jon Niese and delivered a quality start, but the bullpen faltered and the Mets lost 5-3 to the Nationals Game Notes R.A. Dickey went out for his first Mets start, going a solid 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with 4 walks and two strikeouts. His knuckleball was dancing around the plate, and getting some swings-and-misses. He [...]

Fernando Tatis Will Be A Met
Update 4:55 PM – According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, Fernando Tatis is in fact re-signing with the Mets. “Fernando Tatis will be rejoining the Mets, so Carlos Delgado will have to sign elsewhere. Scouts see him only as a DH.” This isn’t as bad as some may think. Tatis hit .282 in 340 at bats for the Mets last season, with eight HR and 21 doubles. The 13 double plays was a fluke. Tatis could be a good compliment to [...]

I Want Hudson On The Team
For the last 2 off seasons Met fans have been debating furiously with each other on whether or not the Mets should sign Orlando Hudson. I believe the pro Hudson fans last season wanted him for the simple fact that Hudson is not Luis Castillo. Whatever other skills Hudson possessed did not matter to Met fans who wanted to run Luis Castillo out of town after his horrible 2008 season which saw him become a [...]

Who’s The Better Fit, Fernando Tatis or Ryan Garko?
Mike Puma of the NY Post, opined that Fernando Tatis could be re-signed by the Mets if they decide to take a pass on Carlos Delgado. The prevailing wisdon is that Tatis would be able to platoon with the left-handed Daniel Murphy at first base. As most of you know, I’m not thrilled with the idea of bringing back Delgado for reasons that I’v already explained on numerous occasions. In an interesting post, James Kannengieser of [...]

How To Fix The Mets in 2010
Like all loyal and lifetime New York Mets Fans 2009 will certainly go down in Mets history as the most injury plagued season in their entire 48 seasons of National League play. Everybody knows that every member of “The Core” players were down for various amounts of time during the season and if the core played together for ten games all season long that would probably be an exaggeration. Dirt was thrown at everybody from [...]

Driving in Runs Big Goal for 2010
It’s not always easy to find things to write about this time of year other than hot stove talk and trade/free agent rumors. So I decided to look at some of the final stats from 2009. You know, those dismal numbers that contributed to one of the worst seasons the Mets have had in years. And while we all know too well about the power outage that had Daniel Murphy lead the team with 12 [...]
