Do The Mets Lack A Killer Instinct?
Omar Minaya spoke with Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports and made some disparaging remarks when talking about the team’s lack of what he calls “an edge”. “We have good guys, solid professionals. There is a smile on David Wright’s face, a smile on Jose Reyes’s face. But there is not an edge to them. Some people see edge as leadership. Sometimes, you need a little meanness to your game. Some people perceive leadership as meanness. “I [...]

Delgado Out Friday, Doubtful For Weekend
Carlos Delgado will not be in the lineup Friday night as the Mets take on the Philadelphia Phillies in Citizens Bank Park due to right hip soreness, according to rotoworld.com. Delgado received an anti-inflammatory injection earlier in the week, and was on track for a return to the lineup Friday. Delgado missed the entire series with the Marlins and has not played since Sunday. With a left-hander pitching Saturday in Jamie Moyer, the Mets may [...]

The Comeback Kids
Have any of you read Jack Curry’s piece in today’s Times about the Sillies? Well penned analysis about our enemy’s well developed tendencies to bounce back in the late innings. Had you heard about this Philly proclivity? Our Mets decidedly don’t comeback as Curry painfully indicates given how we have lost games for a while now. Ah, to have our mid-80s Metsies around! Anyway, check out the piece if you have time. One thing that [...]

4/29 Minor League Report! Duda, Ratliff!
Buffalo 0, Rochester 1 I’m not sure what else I can say at this point. Pitch well and lose, pitch poorly and lose, score 4 and give up 5, score 0 and give up 1…it’s just a sad sad situation up in Buffalo right now. The Bisons were held to 7 hits and 3 walks today, and went 0 for 5 with RISP, leaving 8 men on base in their loss. Willy Mo Pena and [...]

Mets Notes: Daniel Murphy Batting Third, Playing Leftfield
Now there’s something I didn’t expect to see when I got a glimpse of today’s lineup… Daniel Murphy is not only playing leftfield in todays matinée, but he will also be batting third for the first time in his young Mets career. It doesn’t say much for Jerry Manuel’s confidence in David Wright lately as even with Carlos Delgado out of the lineup, Wright still finds himself batting in the five spot. Oh, how the mighty have fallen… [...]

Mets Notes: Delgado, Castillo, Santos, Murphy
Carlos Delgado is out of the starting lineup tonight and most likely for the remainder of this series because of right hip soreness. Jerry Manuel expects Delgado to return on return Friday when the Mets go to Philadelphia for a three game series against the Phillies. Delgado had been mire in a terrible slump in the last ten games. Luis Castillo will also be out of the lineup tonight because of back spasms. He will be [...]

Mets Release Freddy Garcia
After a terrible spring and a couple of dismal starts at AAA-Buffalo, the Mets have cut their losses and released starting pitcher Freddy Garcia. Garcia was initially viewed as the favorite to win the fifth starter’s job in spring training, after signing a one year minor league deal with the Mets. However, Garcia never regained the velocity or control that once made him a top starting pitcher in the American league. Officially, he ends his [...]

Freddy Garcia To Retire?
According to a recent post by Adam Rubin of the Daily News, starting pitcher Freddy Garcia is seriously contemplating retirement after another poor start at AAA Buffalo. On Monday night, Garcia served up a grand slam to Ryan Langerhans in a six-run fifth inning after which he was pulled. Garcia was charged with seven runs and has an 8.18 ERA since joining the Bisons. Garcia told the Buffalo News that he is contemplating pulling the [...]
