Now that the Mets have accepted the fact that their 2009 season is all but over they are looking to rebuild their roster with hopes of returning to the post season. Over the past year we have seen them add names such as Pat Misch and Lance Broadway to help bring some youth to their beleaguered farm system. Today the Mets continued this trend by picking up pitcher Jack Egbert off of waivers from the […]
Is Omar Minaya really as safe as the Mets are wanting the public to believe? Ever since the Tony B. / Adam Rubin fiasco, we haven’t heard much from Omar Minaya except to announce a few player moves and even at those times, Mets PR VP Jay Horwitz was close by to prevent any further Minaya meltdowns. On two occasions, Horwitz even cut the press conference short when reporters began delving into unchartered waters. I […]
The Atlanta Braves have announced that longtime manager Bobby Cox will return for the 2010 season and then retire from managing. Cox will then move to a consulting job for the team for five years afterward. Cox will retire from the Braves as one of the most accomplished managers in baseball history. Cox managed the Braves from 1978 to 1981, and then returned to the Braves bench in 1990. The Braves proceeded to win every […]
After suffering yet another setback with his hip injury, Carlos Delgado will most likely miss the remainder of the season. Delgado told reporters that there is inflammation in his hip following some running last Saturday. The Mets first baseman had right hip surgery on May 19 and was originally expected to return in early August, but suffered a string of one setback after another. “I’m a player. I like to play,” Delgado said. “You want to see your hard […]
Atlanta Braves: (8-2; 7.5) The Atlanta Braves completed a three game sweep, and will take on the Philadelphia Phillies. Sunday’s pitching matchup looks to be interesting, as Tommy Hanson will be up against Cliff Lee. The Braves hot streak has put them 4.5 games back of the Colorado Rockies? Florida Marlins: (6-4; 8) The Florida Marlins took two of three from the St. Louis Cardinals, and lost the opener Thursday to the Cincinnati Reds. The […]
On 9/9/09, Major League Baseball announced a fan poll contest, called the All-Time 9. What that means is that fans can go to official website of their favorite teams and vote for the best single seasons at a position in team history, with the goal of putting together an all-time lineup. After a quick jaunt to the Mets page, I found quite a nice list of memorable single season stats, some positions deeper than others. […]
It’s not very often that a late night Post-Game show on a Sunday has any significance. Tonight was an exception. Following the Mets loss to the Phillies on Sunday night, SNY analyst, Bobby Ojeda unloaded on the Mets for their inexcusable play this season during Lincoln Mercury’s Post Game Live. Unlike many sports shows on TV today, there was no yelling or screaming or obscenities. Instead, Ojeda in a calm demeanor proceed to voice his […]

Atlanta Braves: (4-6; -8) The Atlanta Braves took two of three from the Houston Astros, and will head to St. Louis to play the Cardinals. Nate McLouth has hit three HR’s since returning from the disabled list. Top prospect Jason Heyward won the Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year award. I do these columns twice a week, so I end up reading a lot about Brave prospects, especially Jay-Hey. If I were a […]
