Imports From Colorado Could Be Mile-High Disappointments For Mets

When it comes two building a championship team for next season, the names Matt Holliday and Jason Bay usually spearhead the list as essential additions the club must make. However, the Mets will need more than just a single free agent slugger to be competitive in the National League East. The free agent market, as a whole, isn’t very deep this season so Omar Minaya and the Mets will most likely look at acquiring new [...]

Backman To The Mets, Omar Reaches Out To Former GMs

I really don’t understand what the big fuss is about bringing Wally Backman to the Mets, but apparently according to Jon Heyman of SI.com, the Mets will offer Backman a job on one of their minor league teams, possibly at Class-AA Binghamton where there is a managerial vacancy. The Mets are leaning toward giving 1986 hero Wally Backman a second chance. Backman, a fiery leader from that championship 1986 team, recently called for a job [...]

Around The Majors: Award Edition

No NL East Report today, as the division is clinced, everybody is eliminated, and nothing has really changed. Monday will feature a year-in-review edition of the NL East Report, though. Today we will take a look at the award races across Major League Baseball and my picks. National League MVP: Albert Pujols has had this award sealed since June, and there is no other player as all-around offensively accomplished. Could have had a shot at [...]

More Mets Dysfunction Regarding Jose Reyes

Only moments ago, Jerry Manuel spoke to reporters before the game according to MetsBlog. Matt writes, Jerry Manuel told reporters Jose Reyes felt discomfort while running yesterday, and will be re-examined today. Manuel believes the team and Reyes will make a decision regarding surgery as soon as tomorrow, though a team spokesman quickly dismissed that any such timetable exists. I just can’t think of any other team handling one of their core players with as much dysfunction [...]
