Comedy and Tragedy For The Mets and Their Fans
While it was no laughing matter for the Mets and their fans, even the Dodgers’ players themselves found some humor in the Mets horrific display last night. Redding gave us a quality start and the Mets fought back to tie the game. And then … Two words - Third base. How does one miss it? I have been watching baseball for over 20 years and have NEVER seen a player miss the bag rounding third. Ryan Church [...]

5/18 Minor League Report! FERNANDO!
I have absolutely no words to describe what we just witnessed in Los Angeles. Buffalo 9, Pawtucket 2 Fernando Nieve’s first AAA start with the Mets was a success, he gave up just 2 runs on 3 hits, though he did walk 6, he picked up the win courtesy a 6 run outburst in the top of the 7th inning. The Bisons had 9 hits and drew 5 walks themselves, going 3 for 12 with [...]

When Jon Miller and Joe Morgan speak, Mets fans DON’T listen!
This particular blog was written by a good friend of mine and fellow Mets fan, Ed Leyro. It’s just a sample of some of his brilliant writing. We’re trying to get him to join our staff here at MetsMerized Online. Maybe all you readers out there can help us convince him!! – Denise (MetsWrighter) Way back in the days when the Mets were on SportsChannel, before my parents had cable TV, I would listen to [...]

5/17 Minor League Report! GEE, Duda, FERNANDEZ!
Buffalo 2, Pawtucket 3 in 11 innings Guess we know why Eddie Kunz hasn’t been closing games lately for the Bisons, wow. Handed a 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the 11th, Kunz registered one out, allowed 5 hits and a walk, along with 3 runs. Dillon Gee started this game, and was brilliant for 6.1 innings, outside of some very uncharacteristic wildness (he walked 5!), allowing just 3 hits, while striking out 8. [...]

5/15 Minor League Report! Fernando, Thole, Rustich!
Buffalo 6, Gwinnett 5, Game 1 Michael Antonini’s meteoric rise through the system took him to the highest minor league level tonight, a year after he was pitching for the Savannah Sand Gnats in the South Atlantic League, the lowest full season league in organized baseball. And while he has struggled in Binghamton this year, the ascent itself is quite an accomplishment. He ran into massive trouble with the AAA Braves, though, giving up 5 [...]

NL East Weekday Roundup
Atlanta Braves (Record in last 10 games, 6-4; games gained/lost on div. leader in last 10 games, -2) I think you know what the braves were up to this week on the field. Off the field however, they called up Kris Medlen to take Jo-Jo Reyes’s spot in the rotation after he lasted 3 innings Wednesday. The Braves also released three minor leaguers, including Chen En Hung. Hung is a 21-year-old pitcher from Taiwan who [...]

The Maine Thing Is, Mets Win
I know what they say – you win as a team and you lose as a team. And trust me, I’m the last one to put an individual player’s statistics and milestones ahead of what’s best for the team. However, I feel that Major League Baseball needs to do something to properly reward a starting pitcher for a quality performance when he leaves with the lead after 5 plus innings and his bullpen comes in and blows it [...]

Mr. So Unclutch
Man, that David Wright stinks! Even so, he did go three for three, and gave us key ribbies tonight, including driving in the game winner! Metsies beat the Giants 7-4. Doesn’t it feel great when we beat our parents–GIants and Dodgers! As Mets fans know, we don’t play these teams especailly well when we go out to Californy, so it’s great to get this one under our belts. The Giants don’t hit well, but their [...]

5/14 Minor League Report! THOLE, FAMILIA!
Binghamton 8, Trenton 7 Josh Thole BUSTED out of a slump in a HUGE way, going 5 for 5 and igniting the Mets decisive 3 run bottom of the 9th with a leadoff single. He would score on Josh Petersen’s game tying homer. Later in the 9th, Ruben Tejada hit a grounder to second, which was booted for an error, scoring DJ Wabick with the winning run. Mark Kiger, Thole, and Petersen had multi hit [...]
