Mike Nickeas Opts For Free Agency
Adam Rubin reports:
After being outrighted off the 40-man roster, Mike Nickeas has elected free agency, a team official said.
Fred Lewis, who also had been removed from the roster, chose free agency as well.
The Mets currently have catchers Josh Thole and Anthony Recker on the 40-man roster.

I guess he didn’t want to play in Vegas. What a bad move. He should realize that with all the budget concerns, the mets probably would have needed him at one point.

the man is a good defensive catcher, but can’t hit at all. I just don’t undertand why the owners can’t do anything right, i don’t want to hear it’s about money, get over it. Just do something and don’t blink again and let the season go down again. Man up, have some balls and just do it.
Rumor has it that Fred WIlpon will not sacrifice Jeff’s allowance money under any circumstances
There is no reason any player who can opt for freedom… be he star or journeyman…. would stay with this moribund organization.
the problem is that our perception of the team is from the view of the fan. The ultra competitive NY fan…
the wilpons look at the mets no different than the way Warner Brothers looked at a movie they produced.
Players = Actors
You have your directors = managers…and all the pieces it takes to make a show (or a game)
the only thing they care about is folks paying for tickets…and paying for stuff at the food stand…
we embrace teams passionately….we dont do that with movies…
