The locker room incident involving Jordany Valdespin’s t-shirt before Wednesday’s game has broken out and become a “thing.” In what probably doesn’t count as his rookie hazing, Valdepin’s plain white t-shirt he wore to the ballpark before Wednesday’s win in San Francisco was jokingly altered by some veterans to remind Valdespin of the club’s self-imposed dress code of collared shirts. Garrett Olson had his best outing of the season, going seven innings allowing one run on two hits, walking one and striking out seven. Josh Edgin has not allowed a run in his last eight outings, spanning 7.1 innings. Overall, he has racked up 18 strikeouts in 10.0 innings of work and left-handed hitters are 4-23 (.174) with 12 strikeouts against him. Clearwater 7, St. Lucie 3 Alonzo Harris homered and drove in two runs, but the Mets were unable to overcome an early deficit as they fell 7-3 to the Clearwater Threshers on Wednesday. Yesterday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported that the Mets and Marlins were discussing a deal before the trade deadline that would send Jason Bay to Miami, and bring Heath Bell and John Buck to the Mets.
