St. Lucie Fan Taunting A Lakeland Fan

Indianapolis 4, Buffalo 1 By Andrew O’Brien Less than 24-hours after the Buffalo Bisons exploded for six home runs, their only run Sunday afternoon came when Corey Wimberly stole home in the bottom of the first inning. The Bisons lost to the Indians, 4-1. Indians starter Rick Vandenhurk (2-0, 0.90) allowed just two hits and one run over five innings of work while striking out three and walking three. Jack Egbert (2-3, 2.25) who started [...]

Enough Is Enough, Send Ike Down Already

Ike-Davis

Dear Ike, It’s me Joe D. just checking in with you to see how things are coming along. I hope you’re still not mad at me because I suggested you go to the minor leagues to recharge your batteries almost a month ago. I was only saying it in the best interest of what was right for this team and mostly for your benefit. Now it’s been three more weeks and you are still batting [...]

Series Preview: Mets @ Pirates

MLB: New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania…one of my all-time favorite cities, and home of one of the worst Mets memories of my life. It was September of 2006, my girlfriend and I had booked a trip to see the Mets face the Pirates long before the standings looked the way they did. As we walked the Clemente Bridge, you would have thought you were at Shea West. More Mets fans than Buccos fans, and what made it even more [...]

Old Time Mets: Greg Goossen

greg goosen

Greg Goossen may have been the first “big time” catching prospect the Mets ever had. He just looked like a catcher and had some pretty strong hitting credentials. Yet today, he is probably best-remembered as the subject of Casey Stengel’s famous quote “We got a young catcher right here, he’s 20 years old and in 10 years, he’s got a chance to be 30″. Goossen came to the Mets on a first-year waiver claim from [...]

Mets Avoid Sweep In Edge Of Your Seat 6-5 Win Over Jays

Dillon Gee

The Mets have had terrible luck in the White North of Canada against the Blue Jays. Luckily with David Wright back, they were able to put some runs on the board. After two short starts from Jon Niese and Miguel Batista, we were able to find a starter that could at least reach the seventh inning. Dillon Gee had a nice start that was exactly what the Mets needed. Allowing three runs on five hits, [...]

Collin McHugh – Buffalo Bound?

Collin McHugh

Two days ago the Buffalo Bisons rotation was crowded with arms: Harvey, Familia, Hefner, Schwinden, and Olson. Two days ago the B-Mets rotation was burgeoning with talented arms: McHugh, Wheeler, Germen, Gorski, Peavey, Cohoon, and now, Mejia. Well two days later the B-Mets rotation is still over-loaded, and the Buffalo rotation is thinned after being raided for arms by the big league club and suddenly looks like this: Harvey, Familia, Olson, and Owen. With 23 [...]

Mets Place Batista On DL, Collins Says Hefner Will Start On Thursday

jeremy hefner

The Mets announced that they have placed RHP Miguel Batista on the disabled list after he strained a muscle in his lower back during yesterday’s start against the Blue Jays. Chris Schwinden was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo and will replace Batista on the 25-man roster, but expect Jeremy Hefner to take Batista’s turn in the rotation on Thursday, according to manager Terry Collins. Hefner has made two relief appearances for the Mets and is 0-1 with a 2.25 [...]
