Mets At Trade Deadline: Selling Is Still Inevitable

Today the Mets made top headlines regarding reports surfacing across the internet. The first, Jose Reyes is out 3 weeks with a hamstring injury. The second, Mets are fielding calls on Carlos Beltran. Last but not least, the Mets are supposedly entering into “secret talks” with Jose Reyes team of agents – that however was later shot down by Reyes’ agents. Some of you may remember the article I wrote earlier in the season where [...]

Mets Place Reyes On DL, Could Miss Three Weeks

The New York Mets today announced the team has placed shortstop Jose Reyes on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to July 3, with a strain of his left hamstring and selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Nick Evans from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League. Reyes, 28, suffered the injury running to first base in the first inning on July 2 vs. the Yankees. Evans, 25, was with the Mets earlier this season from May 18-June [...]

Mets Farm Report: July 6th, 2011 – Matt Harvey Shelled

Buffalo Bisons 7 – Scranton/WB Yankees 5 Chris Schwinden was his own worst enemy in this affair. Schwinden gave up a leadoff single to Chris Dickerson and wound up paying more attention to him than the batter and walked the batter on four straight pitches after laying one right down the middle to get the at-bat started. The walk proved to be very costly. After getting two outs in the inning, he allowed a double [...]

What Happens When Wright Returns?

duda

The Mets have been playing great baseball, working as a team, getting timely hits and playing at least adequate defense in the field. The combination of Daniel Murphy, Lucas Duda, Ruben Tejada and Justin Turner have combined to plug the holes in the lineup, get key RBI hits and hold their own at their respective positions. This is all fine and well, but with David Wright expected to return after the All-Star Break, what is [...]

Reyes Camp Calls NY Post Report Bogus, Mets Getting Calls On Beltran

The secret negotiations between the Mets and Jose Ryes which were reported by the NY Post, were apparently so secret that neither Jose Reyes or his agents knew anything about them. Nothing has changed folks. Just as Reyes and his agents made very clear last month, they are very committed to not negotiating a new contract during the season. “Nothing’s changed since this first came up a few weeks ago,” said Chris Leible, one of Reyes’ agents, in [...]

Should Alderson’s Plan Be Affected By The Teams Success?

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson is in a really tough spot right now.  What does he do with the trade deadline approaching?  Does he become a buyer or seller? Does he deveiate from his plan for the future because the team is having success right now? For all of the optimism prior to the season about this team being a .500 club, and maybe winning 85 games, did anyone really expect it to happen?  Spring Training always [...]

Road Warriors Win 4th Straight Without Reyes In 5-3 Win Over Dodgers

Home cooking is overrated – just ask the Mets who continue to dominate on the road and now boast the most road wins in the National League with a 26-20 mark. Remarkably, the Mets won their fourth straight game last night with a convincing 5-3 win over the Dodgers. Game Notes Jonathon Niese (8-7) allowed three runs and five hits over seven innings, improving to 8-4 over his last 14 starts. Niese walked one and struck [...]
