ESPN’s Keith Law updated his 2011 Top 50 Prospect List yesterday, and Mets pitching prospect Matt Harvey checked in at #26. He was the only Mets prospect to appear on Law’s list and he replaces injured pitcher Jenrry Mejia who was bumped off.
Here is his Top 10:
- Bryce Harper, WAS
- Matt Moore, TB
- Shelby Miller, STL
- Carlos Martinez, STL
- Manny Machado, BAL
- Devin Mesoraco, CIN
- Hak-Ju Lee, TB
- Desmond Jennings, TB
- Brett Lawrie, TOR
- Martin Perez, TEX
The following is what Law had to say about Harvey:
His transition to Double-A hasn’t gone smoothly (13 runs allowed in 12 2/3 innings so far), but is up to 97 mph with a chance for three above-average secondary pitches.
Harvey, the Mets 2010 first round pick, was also recently added to Baseball America’s Mid Season Top 50 last week.
