Matt Harvey Is Going To Binghamton

Good news from Port St. Lucie where Mets prized pitching prospect Matt Harvey was pulled from starting in the FSL All Star Game. He will be replaced by less heralded, Mets left-hander Darin Gorski. According to MiLB.com, Harvey was scratched because he is scheduled to be promoted to Double-A Binghamton after making one more start for St. Lucie. The Mets 2010 first rounder has won four straight decisions and is 8-2 with a 2.44 ERA on [...]

Mets Farm Report: June 19th, 2011

Buffalo Bisons 16 – Norfolk Tides 2 This offense outburst came out of nowhere. The Bisons got off to an 11-0 lead before Norfolk even got on the scoreboard. The amazing part is how much scoring they did with two outs. Val Pascuccci broke the ice with a two-run home run in the 1st inning, but it wasn’t until the 3rd when everything took off. Two straight walks and a hit by pitch loaded the [...]

It’s Time to Move On From Failure

There are so many different opinions on this Jose Reyes saga, and frankly I’m ready for it all to be over. I think I’ve heard it all. I think part of the problem frankly is that the folks who are pro-long term Reyes think that people like myself dislike Reyes and that is why we don’t want to see him signed. I’ve heard so many ridiculous statements with regards to Reyes, that the argument is [...]

Marlins Waste No Time, McKeon To Replace Rodriguez

Many were surprised including the players when Florida Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez resigned on Sunday amid a brutal stretch in June where the team has gone 1-18. The 50-year-old became the first Puerto Rican-born manager in MLB history when he took over for the fired Fredi Gonzalez, who is now the manager of the Atlanta Braves. Before his promotion to the majors, Rodriguez had been the manager for Florida’s Triple-A affiliate in New Orleans. “This [...]

Pelfrey: Standing Tall At Home

Look at the photo to the left. That was the linescore from last night’s game, a complete game victory by Mike Pelfrey in which Big Pelf was voted co-player of the game with Carlos Beltran (who hit a monster two-run homer that was estimated at 460 feet). It was the first complete game of the season for a Mets pitcher and the first by Pelfrey since 2008, when he pitched all nine innings in back-to-back [...]

Pelfrey Pitches Much Better With A Veteran Backstop

Mike Pelfrey has not exactly been consistent over the past one and a half seasons, but more often than not, when Pelfrey is locked in and pitching well, 60 feet, 6 inches away is a veteran backstop calling the game. Pelfrey has always been a pitcher that has trouble stopping the bleeding once the going gets tough, and having a catcher who has been around the block a few times works well for Pelfrey. Someone [...]

Mets Farm Report: June 18th, 2011

Buffalo Bisons 3 | Norfolk Tides 11 Talk about a throw away season. Josh Stinson has been just downright awful all year long and tonight was no different. He gave up seven runs in three innings tonight and that is actually his longest outing in his last three starts. Those three starts have lasted 1.1, 2, and 3 innings. In those 6.1 innings he has given up 21 runs (20 earned) on 19 hits and [...]

Beltran Provides The Blast And Pelfrey Goes All The Way In Mets 6-1 Win

460′ To Shea Bridge Game Summary Not often seen, but often celebrated is a complete game from a Mets starter. Pelfrey pitched a complete game with only five hits allowed. The Mets scored six runs, with three RBIs coming from Beltran in a 6-1 win. Game Notes Mike Pelfrey, the man people who were counting out before his first start; including me, really seems to be turning it around for the Mets. He continued his string of [...]

No. 41 Says No. 7 Should Look Out For No. 1

Number 41, Tom Seaver was in town today to help promote the website Bringchange2mind.org, but he wasn’t pulling any punches when the topic of Jose Reyes came up. Dave Hutchinson of the Star-Ledger has the low-down, The greatest Met of them all, Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver, says Jose Reyes should get what the market bears and if that means leaving the organization, so be it. As for Reyes possibly hitting the free agent market [...]

Jose Reyes On Switching To Boras: “No Chance”

jose-reyes-getty

Speaking with reporters at Cii Field before today’s game, Jose Reyes addressed the report by FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal that he may be considering changing agents to Scott Boras. “No chance,” Reyes said, about the possibility of switching agents. “We talked a couple of times on the phone. He’s always tried to get me since the minor leagues, but like I said, I’m happy with my agents.” Original Report 2:00 AM According to Ken Rosenthal [...]
