Gary Carter Rushed To ER Last Night
Another scary moment for the Carter family last night as Hall-Of-Fame catcher Gary Carter was rushed to the hospital last night for severe coughing which was eventually diagnosed as bronchitis and released early this morning. According to Mike Mazzeo of ESPN, Carter’s daughter Kimmy said that: there was speculation that Carter might have blood clotting or pneumonia. But those fears were eased when the results showed that he had something less substantial. Carter is currently: in a [...]

Joe Tuschak Announces He Will Forego College and Sign With Mets
On Friday, Mets sixth round selection Joe Tuschak, ended his high school baseball career with a bang. Tuschak’s grand slam highlighted a six-run outburst in the fourth inning for Northern York in a 6-3 win Friday over Tunkhannock to take the Pennsylvania State Baseball Championship. Immediately after the game, the highly regarded centerfielder spoke to reporters and then surprisingly announced that he would forego his college baseball commitment and sign a contract with the New York Mets. It sounds [...]

Don’t Underestimate Reyes’ Bond With Teammates, Manager, And His Loyal Fans
It looks like Mets fans are already beginning to emotionally disconnect themselves from Mets shortstop Jose Reyes. Those fans who were still holding out hope that the Mets could retain Reyes, are sure to re-think their position after the sobering news that Scott Boras may be setting up camp outside Citi Field to be closer to his newest superstar client. I feel sorry for Jose Reyes – all the talent in the world and no one to guide [...]

Mets Farm Report: June 17th, 2011
Buffalo Bisons 0 Norfolk Tide 9 This was very close to being a great start for Mark Cohoon, and considering the results of his last few starts, this game has to be considered a success. The only real trouble that Cohoon faced the whole game was in the 4th inning. His command fell apart in the inning, he walked two men, and then gave up a two-out single for the first run of the ball [...]

Well That Wasn’t Pretty
Well Mets fans, that sucked… Back to back stinkers from the Mets and suddenly .500 looks so far away again. I thought for sure the Mets were well on there way to their first walk-off win of the season, but instead it was just another one of those agonizing losses. With the Cardinals ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Mets down to their last three strikes, Jose Reyes draws a leadoff walk off [...]

Key Homestand And 6-Game Stretch Starting Tonight
The Mets open up a 6-game inter-league homestand against AL West foes the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, followed by the Oakland A’s, who are both making their inaugural trips to CITI Field. The Mets come into tonight’s play at a mediocre 34-35, coming off a heartbreaking loss in Atlanta, which saw the Mets fight back from a 6-2 deficit, to take an 8-6 lead heading into the bottom of the 9th. Seeking a 3-game [...]

Two Years Later the Mets are Decisive Losers in Wagner Trade
On October 7th, 2009 the New York Mets traded Billy Wagner to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for outfielder Chris Carter and first baseman Eddie Lora. At the time of the trade it was clear the Mets were mostly making a salary dump for Wagner, but things turned out even worse than expected for the Mets. Chris Carter looked like he would turn into a solid bench player and Eddie Lora at least looked [...]

Jose Reyes Has As Many Triples As Jason Bay Has RBI
I really wanted to get this post up a few days ago, because my original post was going to be titled “Jose Reyes has more triples that Jason Bay has RBI”. A few days ago that was the case, as Reyes had 11 triples to Jason’s 10 RBI. It came up in a conversation with my cousin and I could not believe it when he said it. How is that even possible? Regardless of what [...]

Mets Farm Report: June 16th, 2011
Buffalo Bisons 7 – Norfolk Tides 4 A mixed bag tonight for Chris Schwinden. In a common theme to his starts lately, he began the game off pitching very poorly. He gave up a run on four hits and two walks over the first two innings and threw a lot of pitches. A Michael Fisher dropped foul ball to begin the 3rd inning enabled two runs to score on a two-out double. Schwinden finished strong [...]
