Last night, struggling leftfielder Jason Bay homered for the first time since May 13 in the sixth, breaking a string of 104 at-bats without one. Bay also hadn’t had an extra-base hit since May 20, a stretch of 89 at-bats.
It was a great night for Bay who also blasted a triple off the wall, and had a single and a walk in his best game of the season. He also made several nice catches in left.
“It felt great,” Bay said. “I’ve been working every day. As much as you tell people what you’re doing, it’s nice to get results.”
Collins indicated he might move Bay up in the order for tonight’s game. Bay had been batting sixth and could bat clean-up behind Carlos Beltran.
With Justin Turner cooling off, maybe outfielder Angel Pagan can return to his more natural role and bat second behind Reyes?
Bay has been surging of late and is hitting .417 in the last six games.
