Beltran STILL Not Playing In Games
Updated 12:24 P.M. Apparently now Beltran will be playing simulated games for the next 2 days, while trying to get some fielding work in as well. If this goes well without a hitch, Beltran may play in a minor league game on Saturday. The Mets are essentially allowing Beltran to crawl into the season, as opposed to walk in their best efforts to try and get 500+ AB’s. They are taking account the feeling [...]

Blaine Boyer Can Opt Out If Not On Mets Opening Day Roster
Recently discovered news by Adam Rubin says that Mets RHP Blaine Boyer is eligible to opt out of his contract next Thursday, March 31st if he is not on the Mets Opening Day roster. As this may make the bullpen decision difficult, it now means that Blaine Boyer in addition the Pedro Beato, Pat Misch or Manny Acosta must be on the opening day roster otherwise they must be returned to their team (Rule 5 [...]

2011 Mets Opening Day GFX: R.A. Dickey Is Daddy Dearest!
He’s In Mid-Season Form! After flaunting his prized knuckleball and delivering another solid spring effort against the Cardinals yesterday, Dickey hopped on a plane home so he could to be with his wife who is scheduled to deliver the couples’ fourth child. Such is the life for our very own action hero. R.A. Dickey tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowing just six hits and one earned run, while striking out five and walking none. How does he [...]

Will Jason Bay Decide The Future Of Citi Field For The Mets?
I think it’s safe to say that Jason Bay’s first year as a New York Met was a bust after be signed to a 4 year deal worth 66 million dollars. Coming into the 2010 season Jason Bay was supposed to provide much needed power for the Mets. Unfortunately things did not go as planned as Bay’s power was nowhere to be found last season. Besides his offensive numbers taking a huge nosedive last year [...]

3 Up and 3 Down: 10 More Days Mets Fans!
Before we get to another Spring Training edition of “3 Up and 3 Down”, I’d like to thank Joe D. for welcoming me back to the MMO family. It’s great to back. Three Up 1. Ike & Josh - One year ago, neither Ike Davis or Josh Thole were projected to be part of the team. This year they are going to be integral parts of the team. Ike Davis joined the Mets early last season, and [...]

Forbes: Mets Worth Over $100 Million Less Than Last Year
Yesterday, Forbes Magazine valued the New York Mets at $747 million dollars, a significant decrease from last years $858 million dollar figure. The Mets were just one of three MLB teams whose value declined, the other two teams being the San Diego padres and the Cleveland Indians. Forbes’ Monte Burke explains some of the reasons that led them to devalue the Mets by over $100 million dollars. The Mets had just finished a woeful season, losing more [...]

Here’s The Situation: Second Base
I am in a bit of a good mood because I’m feeling positive looking ahead to the season. For some reason, even though I am a cynic, I always seem to find positivity in the Mets. Of course, if I take a second to be negative, my mind will blow up because I’ll stop wanting to be a Met fan. So i’ll keep drinking that kool-aid. Here’s a random little piece, Jersey Shore reference inspired [...]

Good News! Carlos Beltran, Sandy Alderson and manager Terry Collins met today and mapped out a new plan that will have Beltran fully participating in Grapefruit League games by this weekend. All three are very confident that he will be breaking camp with the Mets on Opening Day. “At this point, assuming everything goes well over the next eight days, he’s right on track for Opening Day” said Sandy Alderson. “I still believe he’s going to be ready,” [...]
