Astros DisPENCE Mets, 4-3
Johan Santana was good today, but a late home run by new Met-Killer Hunter Pence and the Mets lost the game, 4-3. Game Notes Johan Santana was great tonight, going the full eight innings, giving up four runs on nine hits with one walk and seven k’s. That stat line doesn’t tell the whole story for Johan, as four of those hits were given up in the first inning. After the first inning, Johan settled [...]

Only moments ago, the Mets announced on a conference call that closer Francisco Rodriguez has been placed on disqualified list. Mets CEO Jeff Wilpon, said in a conference call: “The Mets today announced that they have placed pitcher Francisco Rodriguez on the Disqualified List for conduct in violation of his Uniform Player’s Contract. In addition, the Mets notified the player, his agent, and the MLB Players Association that it has exercised its right to convert Rodriguez’s contract [...]

Ike Davis Is Suffering In The Hands Of Manuel And Hojo
I’m not looking to throw more gasoline on the fire, but has anyone noticed the similarities between Ike Davis and Jeff Francoeur at the plate for the last two months? We expected Ike Davis to go into a slide, just about every rookie does. But what bugs me about Ike’s slide is the lunging and the wild swings. All players have slumps, but the current version of Ike Davis looks nothing like the patient hitter [...]

K-Rod, The Offense and Other Mets Thoughts
There are so many avenues I could take with the K-Rod issue. Not only has it been an embarrassment for the organization, the players, the city and the fans, but now it has an impact on the field as well. One could argue that the season is over anyway, but even if it is, does that mean we shouldn’t still try to salvage what’s left and end the season with some dignity and pride? Rodriguez’s contract needs [...]

The Silver Lining In All Of This
The Mets are 10 games behind Atlanta and below .500. They have an upcoming schedule at Houston – which is playing better since the Roy Oswalt trade – and Pittsburgh – which always plays them tough. This is their last chance to make up some ground and bring interest into September. Frankly, while I doubt they’ll make a real run, there could be some interesting ball ahead. Their pitching, supposedly the weak link entering the [...]

Let’s Go Mets – In A New Direction
At the moment, the Mets have NO leader – last we heard from the Wilpons, Fred said he had a meeting with University of Michigan Alums and Jeffy gave you 18 words of boilerplate. Omar, is Omar – he’s been involved with the NL East since the Toronto Days, a nice man, very charming and polite, but hasn’t reached the computer age yet. Jerry Manuel is also a nice man – caught over his head [...]

Omar Does Not Deserve A Vote Of Confidence From The Mets
About 2 weeks ago principal owner Fred Wilpon was asked about Omar Minaya’s job status after the 2010 season. Clueless Fred responded by saying: “Is the sun coming up tomorrow?” I cannot understand where this vote of confidence is coming from. Omar Minaya has been the General Manager since the end of the 2004 season. In that time Omar has built a team that went to the playoffs ONCE! As we all know in 2007 [...]

The New York Mets have confirmed that they have agreed to a deal with first round draft pick, RHP Matt Harvey.
