Game Preview: Diamondbacks vs Mets
The Mets play the second game of the series tonight after losing to Arizona again this season last night. It was bizarre and stressful game last night as the strike zone was about the size of an apple, the Mets had power to rally (early), Valdes self-destructed, and Citi-Field continued to fall apart. The Mets look to turn this around tonight as Takahashi takes on Enright. Takahashi is 7-5 on the season with a 4.47 [...]

The New York Mets – The State of Disunion
I’m like most Mets fans, I’m eternally hopeful almost to the tipping point of naivete. Perhaps it’s just the way most of us have grown up as Mets fans, always believing yet more times than not, having our hearts ripped out and handed to us, Temple of Doom style. Yet our loyalty always remains as constant as the northern star. Some of us take baseball for what it literally is, a kids game played by [...]

Mets Tried To Dump Ollie and Castillo Off On The Cubs
Update 11:45 AM Ken Rosenthal and Jon Heyman reported that the Mets were trying to push Oliver Perez andLuis Castillo to the Cubs for problematic RHP Carlos Zambrano. They were rejected. That’s like trying to push the Swine Flu on somebody… Where do the Mets come off trying to trade two players who are not worthy of a Major League roster spot, and are still owed $20 million, in exchange for a pitcher with 108-74 career record and a 3.58 ERA, who [...]

Valdes Annihilated, Mets Lose 9-6
In a game where David Wright hit two home runs and the Mets offense put up some run support, Raul Valdes was pitching volleyballs and the Diamondbacks tee’d off, winning the opening game of the series 9-6. Game Notes Mike Pelfrey was hit early on in the game, and hit hard. Mike’s final line of five runs allowed, four earned on eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts in five and two-third innings doesn’t [...]

Jason Bay Placed On DL, Reflecting On His Signing
The Mets officially placed outfielder Jason Bay on the disabled list on Friday. Bay continues to suffer with continued headaches, a week after he hit the outfield wall at Dodger Stadium while making a catch. Minor league outfielder Jesus Feliciano was promoted from Triple-A Buffalo to take his place and will be available tonight against the D’Backs. Also, David Wright will be back in the cleanup spot after getting the game off yesterday. It’s starting to feel [...]

Honesty Begets Loyalty
So I was thinking about urinals…..No I’m kidding, that was a fun blog to write though! As the trade deadline hovers over the sports world, we’re all following tweets and refreshing espn.com several times a day just to see if any deals have been made. Are the Mets making any moves? Are we getting a veteran pitcher? What about the bullpen? Something occurred to me last night as I was looking over the Oswalt deal, [...]

NL East Report
Atlanta Braves: (58-43; Leader) The Braves remain in talks for maybe a bat or a reliever, but it’s likely that they stand pat. Philadelphia Phillies: (56-46; -2.5) Well, by now you’ve heard about Roy Oswalt going to Philadelphia. Oswalt makes his debut tonight against the Nationals. Like they need the [...]
