Elbow Surgery Expected For Johan Santana

It saddens me to post this, but as was reported by Phil Hoops, Johan Santana will have an MRI on his ailing elbow on Tuesday. On Monday night, details started to emerge that Johan Santana and several other players are expecting the worst and that Santana will require season ending elbow surgery. Marty Noble reports on Mets.com, Mets players said Monday they expect Johan Santana will require surgery on his left elbow to repair whatever malady [...]

This Organization Is A Joke!

Yesterday it came out that Johan Santana would miss his next start and go see a doctor for his ailing pitching elbow.  Another day and another Met injury no longer surprises me anymore with this Mickey Mouse organization but what does surprise me is that the Mets knew about this and did NOTHING!  Johan Santana is one of the best pitchers in the game, he’s the ace of the embarrassing starting rotation for the Mets [...]

Billy Wagner Invokes No Trade Clause, Will Stay With Mets

Last Friday, it was reported that Billy Wagner was claimed on waivers by the Boston Red Sox, the news was not welcomed by Sox closer, Jonathon Papelbon who thinks he has been promoted to General Manager. Papelbon’s crude rumblings aside, the Mets and Sox had until Tuesday afternoon to complete a trade. According to a report by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports,  Billy Wagner is staying with the Mets. He will invoke his no-trade clause rather than accept a [...]

What Might Have Been: The Nolan Ryan Story

Nolan Ryan was one of the many Mets honored before Saturday night’s game at Citi Field during the celebration of the 1969 World Championship team.  It was his first return to Flushing in a Mets uniform since the ill-fated trade to the California Angels on December 10, 1971.  Would Mets history have been different if the Mets weren’t in such desperate need for a third baseman that they were willing to part with the young [...]

How The Mets Can Hit Into A Quadruple Play

So far this season, the Mets have lost a number of games in bizarre and improbable ways.  From failing to touch third base at Dodger Stadium to dropping a potential game-ending pop-up at the new Yankee Stadium, Mets fans everywhere have been forced to revise their “I’ve never seen that before” lists.  After Sunday’s stunning game-ending unassisted triple play, I’ve been thinking about new ways the Mets can lose ballgames.  There is one thing worse [...]

Give Howard Johnson The Boot

As we all know the Mets cannot do anything right this year.  One of their biggest weaknesses has been hitting home runs.  Playing in Citi Field does not make it any easier. With under 40 games left in this dreadful year, the Mets have just passed Barry Bonds on the home run list.  In 2001, as everyone knows Barry Bonds broke a major league record by hitting 73 home runs in one year.  Currently the [...]

NL East Report

Atlanta Braves: (6-4; -7) The Atlanta Braves took two of three from the Marlins and will face the San Diego Padres this week. Of note, Tim Hudson make a rehab start over the weekend in AAA. His scheduled opponent would have been Jake Peavy of the White Sox AAA affiliate, but Peavy was pushed a day back. Anyway, Hudson could be close to returning, as he threw 89 pitches in 6 innings of work. Florida [...]

Mets Have Had Their “Phil”; Lose Again 6-2

The Mets played a Monday matinee at Citi Field today and Bobby Parnell pitched well…to every hitter not named Ryan Howard. Howard hit two home runs off Parnell to score the first five runs of the game for the Phillies.  That was all the offense they needed as they were able to defeat the Mets by the final score of 6-2.  The loss was the third straight for the Mets to the Phillies after winning [...]
