Castillo Leading Off, Reyes Batting Second?

As per David Lennon of Newsday:

The biggest message from Jerry Manuel’s opening remarks this morning was his renewed emphasis on unselfish play for the upcoming season. And the manager immediately put that to the test by suggesting that Jose Reyes may be dropped to the No. 2 spot in the lineup if Manuel believes hitting Luis Castillo leadoff will work the best for the lineup overall. He also said he could possibly use Reyes at No. 3 in some instances.

“I don’t think he’ll have a problem with that,” Manuel said. “When we win it all, then you can say ‘we don’t need this’ or ‘we don’t need that.’”

Well there goes Jerry Manuel gettin’ all “Gangsta” and in your face…

I guess this is his way of firing things up…

My question to Jerry is this…

In those instances when Reyes bats third, who exactly would be batting first and second?

I love Jerry because he is not a push-button manager and will think out of the box, but sometimes he makes me feel very, very creepy when he says something like that because I can’t tell if he’s being serious or just joking around…

But, ya gotta love that about him…
