Mets Trade Schoeneweis For What?

Update: Saturday, 11:00 AM The Mets agreed to pay $1.6 million of the $3.6 million that Scott Schoeneweis is owed under the terms of Friday’s deal. Wow, we really got hammered on this one. If we were gonna kick in all that cash, we should have gotten back a better player than Connor Robertson. I know many of us wanted Schow out of here, but he really wasn’t so bad when you compare him to [...]

Cole Hamels Calls Mets “Choke Artists”

Cole Hamels had some choice words about the Mets yesterday. If you’re in a good mood, stop reading NOW: On our two September slides: “Last year and this year, I think we did believe that. Three years ago, we didn’t, because they smoked everybody. I really thought that was the year they were going to the World Series. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Will Sean Green Be Traded To Upgrade Another Position?

One of the players the Mets got yesterday along with J.J. Putz and Jeremy Reed, was relief pitcher Sean Green. Green is a right handed side-armer who specializes in inducing ground balls. Dan Graziano believes that he could be flipped in another deal to fill another hole. Here is what he wrote on his blog this evening. Rule V Draft Thus Far

Although it is hard to break concentration from our new amazing back end of the bullpen, we have to take time to look at the Mets Rule V picks so far. According the Metsblog.com, at this time the Mets have selected Darren O’Day and Rocky Cherry in the MLB Rounds. Then they selected Carl Codenthal and John Madden so far in the AAA round. No one has selected Mets players at this time. (The only recent [...]

A Clean Slate For Heilman Who May Finally Get His Wish

In the heat of the moment, I’ve written some horrible things about Aaron Heilman over the years. However, the truth is that he was a very decent guy. Even when he had his worst moments, you could always find him sitting at his locker and ready to face the music with a very testy media. He really never fit in with this team in my opinion. It seemed like every Spring Training we had to [...]

Omar Calls Blockbuster An Old-Fashioned Trade

They just wrapped up the short press conference at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, where Omar Minaya, Mark Shapiro (Indians), and Jack Zduriencik (Mariners) addressed the media. Zduriencik, led things off and basically complimented Omar and revealed this was the first trade he ever made. Omar, took the mic next and after a bunch of thanks to go around for everyone, basically said the trade was an old-fashioned trade that took a while to develop, [...]
