On a night where the offense staked him to an early 8-0 lead in what went on to be a 11-2 win, Zack Wheeler mostly cruised against Miami on Friday night.

Wheeler, 28, gave the Metropolitans everything they could ask for out of their starting pitcher. He went seven innings on the night while allowing two runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out eleven.

Wheeler struggled a little bit in the third, allowing both of his runs on four hits in the inning. He quickly though recovered to toss four scoreless innings after this to end his night strong.

Zack tossed 107 pitches on the night, 81 of which landed for strikes as he showed good control of the strike zone on a night he was able to pitch pressure free with the offense doing their part.

Friday night’s win was the third of season for Wheeler as his record improved to 3-2 in 2019 with an ERA of 4.35 and a WHIP of 1.35. He has also accumulated 58 strikeouts thus far in 49.2 innings pitched.
