The Mets (73-85) lost to the Braves (92-66) by the score of 2-0 on Saturday evening in Atlanta.
In an unsurprisingly impressive performance, Chris Young finished his season with the Mets on a high note. Why do I say unsurprisingly? With Young making his final start of the year without a hitch, he has shown his durability and ability to pitch effectively over a full season is back. He will not be blowing anybody away, but he has probably now priced himself out of our range – which is not too big of a hit, since he would likely be brought as just insurance anyway.
Young brought his good stuff to the potential final start of his Mets career for the near future, as he went six innings and allowed just single runs in the first and fifth innings. He struck out six, while he allowed seven hits and a walk. He took the loss, his ninth, but understand that teams will likely look past the win-loss record for him. The unrelated Ramirez brothers, Elvin and Ramon, combined to pitch the eighth and ninth innings without allowing a run, while striking out one each.
The offense barely mustered three hits against opposing starter Mike Minor, and although they picked up two hits against Jon Venters, they were 0-5 with RISP and looked pretty lifeless all night.

More strikeouts than hits for the Mets today, 7:5, and no Met had multiple hits. Wright had the only XBH, a 2B.
