I don’t know about you, but so far I am having a blast watching and rooting for the Mets this season. Who would have thought the Mets would be 6-3 after nine games including taking two of three from the Washington Nationals?

What stuck out to me in the Phillies series was how all three of our starting pitchers; Jacob deGrom, Matt Harvey and Jon Niese, admittedly struggled with their command and their stuff in general. And yet they each battled, bore down when they had to, and ultimately delivered quality starts. Can you imagine how good they’re going to be as the weather heats up and they start showing up with their “A” games?

Things are beginning to click for the offense too and especially for our Double D’s Travis d’Arnaud and Lucas Duda. Both of them have put any doubts to rest as to whether their performances last season were a fluke. Duda wrapped up a nice series performance, batting 5-for-14 with 5 RBI in the three games, with a double, a homer and two runs scored.

D’Arnaud also had a nice series, going 4-for-9 with a home run and two RBI, and he leads the team with eight RBI. Thanks to his hot hitting, he was promoted to the two spot in the order to replace David Wright. After the game he said the move fired him up that it “meant the world” to him and kicked him.

Curtis Granderson and Juan Lagares are finally starting to see their hard hit balls drop in for hits. Eventually, the law of averages does kick in.

The Mets hit three home runs in the three-game series after only hitting one in their first five games of the season. And by the way, they did their damage in Citi Field.

So now the Mets get ready to host the Miami Marlins for a four-game series, and I’m thinking this is going to be a great test that will have us coming out on top again.

It seems that most of the mainstream media were mesmerized (not Metsmerized) by Miami’s busy and expensive offseason. So much so that most of them ranked the Marlins ahead of the Mets in their preseason predictions. What a joke.

There’s a lot of talk about believing these days, as well there should be. And as I’ve said quite often this Winter, this Mets team is well positioned for a great run of success beginning this season, and they have the minor league pipeline to sustain it.

So you bet your ass I believe. I believe we can win 86 games on the downside and 91 if things break right. I believe we have the bats, the pitching, and the depth. Yes, I’m a believer.
