New York Mets

  1. RF C. Granderson (L)
  2. C Travis d’Arnaud (R)
  3. 1B Lucas Duda (L)
  4. LF Michael Cuddyer (R)
  5. 2B Daniel Murphy (L)
  6. 3B Eric Campbell (R)
  7. CF Juan Lagares (R)
  8. SS Wilmer Flores (R)
  9. P Dillon Gee (R)

Gee is 3-1 with a 2.84 ERA in six starts against the Marlins and has not given up a home run to them since Aug. 29, 2011. He has held Giancarlo Stanton to one hit (a homer) in nine at-bats.

Outside of the Nationals, the Marlins were the only team in the division that really tried to actively improve the team in the offseason. The Marlins, at least on paper, could be a team that challenges the Mets the entire season for a wild card spot, so any of these 19 games could be important (It is also April, so it’s hard to say anything is that important).

Dillon Gee gets the nod for the Amazin’s tonight as he come’s off a rough start in Atlanta where he allowed 5 earned runs over 5.0 innings, although the numbers don’t tell the whole story. He allowed only one earned run over his first four innings, and then allowed 4 runs in the 5th.

Last year he was 1-1 in two starts against the Fish posting a 2.45 ERA over 14.2 innings. The Marlins have the following numbers against Gee:

  • Prado 5-25, 2 2B
  • Stanton 1-9, HR
  • Morse 2-10, 2B
  • Ozuna 5-10
  • Solano 3-9
  • Yelich 0-6
  • Hechavarria 1-6

Jarred Cosart will make his second start of the season for the Marlins trying to follow up his season debut where he allowed 1 earned run over 3 hits and 6 innings of work. Overall in 2014 he was 13-11 with a 3.69 ERA over 30 starts and 180.1 innings however he was 4-4 with a 2.39 ERA in 1- starts and 64.0 innings with the Marlins.

He made only one start against the Mets last year where he allowed 2 ER over 6.0 innings and 5 hits. The Mets have the following numbers against Jarred:

  • d’Arnaud 1-2
  • Duda 0-2
  • Flores 2-3, 2B
  • Granderson 0-3
  • Lagares 1-3
  • Murphy 1-3
