yoenis Cespedes

Yoenis Cespedes went 2-for-6 and registered his 43rd multi-hit effort of the season on Saturday night. He is now tied for the third-most multi-hit games in the major leagues.

However it was his defensive jaw-dropping gem in left field that a packed Citi Field will remember for a long time despite the 5-4 loss to the Bucs.

Cespedes showcased his powerful throwing arm that we’ve heard so much about after he was acquired from the Detroit Tigers at the trade deadline.

With the Mets and Pirates dead locked in a 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth, Sean Rodriguez doubled to the gap in left-center and tried to stretch it into a triple. Cespedes got to the ball, fielded it, and with his eyes fixed on Rodriguez, fired a perfect throw to gun him down at third.

It was Cespedes’ 10th outfield assist of the season and his first with the Mets.

And if you thought that was amazing, check out this other throw Cespedes recalled last night, made when he was with the Oakland A’s.
