Atlanta Braves (1-0) at Houston Astros (0-1)
LHP Max Fried (0-0, -.–) vs. RHP Jose Urquidy (0-0, -.–)
Game #2 8:09 PM – Minute Maid Park – Houston, TX

The home team hasn’t won a World Series game at their own stadium since 2018, can the Astros break the curse and tie the series at 1?

Jose Urquidy is Houston’s choice on the mound. He’s pitched 1.2 total innings in the playoffs, allowing five runs in the process. Urquidy made 20 regular-season starts for a 3.62 ERA and struck out 90 batters in 107.0 innings.

The Astros haven’t had any consistent success this postseason from their starting pitchers. Framber Valdez couldn’t finish three innings in Game 1 after throwing eight his previous outing in Boston.

Max Fried hopes to rebound from a start against the Dodgers where he allowed five runs in 4.2 innings. With Charlie Morton ruled out for the remainder of the World Series, Fried needs to be the ace for Atlanta’s pitching staff.

Last night the Braves beat Astros 6-2. Jorge Soler and Adam Duvall each homered to put Atlanta up 5-0. The Astros managed to grab a run back in the fourth and the eighth but never closed the deficit below four runs.

Every starting player for the Braves recorded a hit in Game 1. Soler, Ozzie Albies, and Eddie Rosario all had multiple hits. Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, and Carlos Correa went a combine 0-for-12 for Houston.
