There was a lot of chatter surrounding the Mets leading up to the trade deadline, but when all was said and done, just Lucas Duda and Addison Reed switched uniforms.

With a lot of position players being floated around by the Mets, it was pitching that stole the show Monday.

But while the Mets are still left with the likes of Asdrubal Cabrera, Neil Walker, Curtis Granderson and to a lesser extent Jay Bruce, the team still has a month left to deal the aforementioned players.

In August, a player must successfully pass through waivers in order to be traded and the main concern on Monday was trading Reed, who would not have passed and the Mets wouldn’t have gotten anything for him.

The rest of the players will pass through and with teams reaching the final stretch of the season as they gear up for the playoffs, position needs will need to be filled.

I think Bruce will remain a Met, but Cabrera and Granderson will likely be dealt as well as Walker who needs to stay healthy to build his value back up.

It will be an interesting month, so while the Mets didn’t make too much noise on deadline day, there is still another month for them to get some returns.

Remember, the Mets have made notable August trades in the past, most notably shipping Marlon Byrd and John Buck to the Pirates for Dilson Herrera and acquiring Addison Reed from the Diamondbacks.
