The 2012 Winter Meetings at Nashville, Tennessee have come to a close and with that Sandy Alderson and the Mets’ entourage are heading back to New York.
Two months of the offseason are now gone, with just two months left to go before Mets Spring Training Camp opens in Port St. Lucie.
Those significant and marked changes that we were told to expect this offseason have yet to materialize, but maybe the Mets have some things in the hopper that were spawned during their stay in Nashville.

As Adam Rubin pointed out, the same work remains to be done as when they arrived:
• Resolve the R.A. Dickey situation.
• Find a righty-hitting catching complement for Josh Thole.
• Add two righty-hitting outfielders.
• Retool the bullpen leading into Frank Francisco.
Also, Mets insiders continue to portray it more likely that Dickey stays than goes in a trade — with or without a contract extension beyond 2013.
Sources say that Rule 5 selection Kyle Lobstein is already a Tiger, as the Mets quickly swapped him for cash.
One thing I want to mention is that with David Wright’s deal, Sandy Alderson received an additional $8 million dollars of flexibility, giving him approximately $21 million to spend this Winter. That’s a lot more than he’s ever had in two previous offseasons, so lets see what he does with it.
