For much of the night, the New York Mets’ offense was stalled by former Met pitcher Chris Bassitt. On a wet, cold, and soggy field, New York fell behind 2-0 to the Toronto Blue Jays. However, the Mets bullpen kept the team in it, and the offense finally came through late. Thanks heavily to a big night from Jesse Winker and Francisco Lindor. It was ugly, but the Mets found a way to win.

Jesse Winker Highlights Comeback With Two Triples
The Mets’ offense left plenty of RISP on Saturday night. They went o-for-10 with RISP for much of the night, including leaving the leadoff man on second base through the first two innings. Winker, however, was his pesky self. Winker has struggled to begin the season, but he broke out on Saturday with three extra-base hits, including two triples, the first time Winker has recorded three-baggers since 2021. The second triple came in the bottom of the 8th inning with runners at the corners as he roped a curveball from Blue Jays pitcher Brendon Little off the wall to drive in Lindor and Juan Soto to tie the game 2-2. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza decided to stick with Winker against the lefty Little, which paid off in a big way.
Francisco Lindor Wins It in The 9th
Winker’s game allowed the Mets to complete the comeback in the bottom of the 9th inning. Jose Siri got it started with a one-out walk. Siri advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Then, Luis Torrens, a late scratch, came up to pinch hit and punched a single into left field. With runners at the corners, the Blue Jays went to their closer, Jeff Hoffman, as Lindor came to bat. Lindor sent the first pitch he saw from Hoffman into centerfield for a game-winning sacrifice fly that scored Siri to win the game 3-2.
The Bullpen Holds Steady Again
Suffice it to say, the Mets’ bullpen has been really good to start the season. On Saturday, New York’s bullpen was solid again after a shaky outing from Griffin Canning. Canning allowed hits to Alan Roden and Bo Bichette to begin the 5th inning, and José Buttó relieved him. After giving up an RBI single to Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Buttó worked his way out of a bases-loaded jam to keep it a 1-0 game.
Huascar Brazobán took over for Buttó after he gave up a run in the top of the 6th and got Gurrero to line out. Brazobán worked the 7th and 8th innings to keep the game tied. Overall, Brazobán went 2 1/3 shutout innings, allowed one hit, and struck out one. Edwin Díaz bent but didn’t break in the 9th by striking out Anthony Santander and Andrés Giménez with two men on.
Player Of The Game: Jesse Winker
Winker came through big in the clutch for the Mets in their win. He contributed with two triples, a double, and two RBIs.
