The Mets announced that starting catcher Luis Torrens was scratched from Saturday’s lineup shortly before first pitch with a right forearm contusion.

Hayden Senger will get the start in place of Torrens, who has played in every game this season so far behind the plate.
Torrens has filled in nicely in place of Francisco Alvarez to start the year. He has slashed .263/.300/.526 in seven games, and has provided stellar defense to boot. Torrens made a key tag as well as an assist on a stealing attempt late in Wednesday’s game against the Marlins that helped the Mets take that game in extra innings. Torrens is behind just Pete Alonso among position players on the team in fWAR.
Senger, who got his first major league hit against the Marlins, will be making his second start. There is no word yet on how much time Torrens is expected to miss.
