According to Jon Heyman of FanCred Sports, Zack Wheeler is the one to go if any Mets starter is traded. He reports that half a dozen teams have called the Mets expressing interest in the 28-year-old starter.

It had been previously reported that the Yankees have been in contact with the Mets about a possible cross-town swap headlined by Wheeler.

Wheeler, 28, is having a bounce-back year after missing much of the last three seasons for the Mets with a 3-6 record, 4.44 ERA, and a 1.34 WHIP.  He is also under contract through the 2019 season.

The right-hander has a career 24-29 record with a 4.02 ERA in four seasons since being called up after being acquired from the Giants in 2011 for Carlos Beltran.
