Well Mets fans, that sucked… Back to back stinkers from the Mets and suddenly .500 looks so far away again.

I thought for sure the Mets were well on there way to their first walk-off win of the season, but instead it was just another one of those agonizing losses.

With the Cardinals ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Mets down to their last three strikes, Jose Reyes draws a leadoff walk off of rookie closer Jordan Walden and quickly steals second base. A glimmer of hope courtesy of our catalyst…

Things then got even more interesting, when Justin Turner hung in against the young right-hander and kept fouling pitches off until he finally worked out another walk.

Just like that, we suddenly had runners on first and second with nobody out and the 3-4-5 hitters were coming up – Beltran, Murphy and Pagan – three left-handed bats against the Cardinals’ young erratic right-hander.

Things were really looking up, and on this wet and muggy Friday night, it seemed the stars were perfectly aligned for some good old-fashioned Mets magic. But it wasn’t meant to be.

Walden suddenly found his control and attacked the heart of the Mets order with some major league heat coupled with some filthy good sliders. The Mets never had a chance.

Beltran looked feeble as he went down on strikes, and Murphy went down swinging too. It was down to Angel Pagan who was having a good night at the plate, but he to succumbed to a Walden slider and the Cardinals Wonder Boy struck out the side and handed the Mets their second consecutive loss.

This isn’t good for my acid reflux.

Sound off Mets fans!
