It’s astonishing, every single day the Mets are finding new ways to win. It used to be the exact opposite, but now it’s pretty safe to say that these Mets are an unstoppable force.

For those fans who never stopped believing and saw this coming there’s no greater reward, and for the other fans who only now can see just how good this Mets team is, welcome aboard. It doesn’t matter how or when it happened, but it’s amazing and heartening to see how unified this Amazin’ Fanbase has become.

The numbers that the Mets have been producing this month are off the charts. They are 18-6 in August and their 6.5 lead atop of the NL East is the biggest lead in the entire National League, better even than the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Mets are now a freight train with the rest of the National League dead in their tracks.

As I’ve been saying for quite a while on MMO, the Mets can do no wrong. Every decision, good or bad, ends up being the perfect call. Everything is going their way. And it all can be pinpointed to the day they promoted Michael Conforto and quickly followed that up with the acquisitions of Kelly Johnson, Juan Uribe, Yoenis Cespedes, and Tyler Clippard.

As they motor toward their first playoff appearance in nine years, their once embarrassing offense now leads the majors with 6.4 runs per game since that day, while the rotation continues to dominate at historic levels.

Last night, as the Mets wrapped up their series sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies, they set a new franchise record by scoring 73 runs in their last seven games and 40 runs during the four-game series.

What really stands out for me during this prolific offensive outburst, is that this hasn’t been a case of one superstar like Mike Piazza or Reggie Jackson carrying the team on their backs, albeit Cespedes has provided a big chunk of production during this record-breaking outpouring.

In actuality however, this has been an all hands on deck effort with significant contributions from the top down. One night it’s Wilmer Flores, the next night it’s Juan Lagares and last night it was Daniel Murphy.

“If you’re going to win, you don’t ride one horse,” manager Terry Collins said. “You’ve got to spread out the wealth, and we’ve done it right now. Everybody on the team wants to contribute, and everybody has.”

Our New York Mets now ride a seven game winning streak into Citi Field as they host the Boston Red Sox for a weekend series that could get wild and raucous as sell-out crowds contribute to an electrically charged home atmosphere.

The team is making things happen and nothing seems to impede their dedication to winning every game no matter how bleak things may seem at times or how far back they fall behind in the scoring.

“It’s not just getting the wins,” third baseman David Wright said. “Obviously, that’s the most important thing. But the way that we’re winning, we’re never out of a game.”

The way this team manhandled the Philadelphia Phillies was fun to watch and you could see how their confidence has now translated into pure swagger – a swagger we’ve been waiting to see for well over a decade.

What has been an absolutely incredibly fun season to watch from the very beginning, continues to provide more thrills and more enjoyment than any of us could have ever expected. It’s become one of those seasons that has so many turning points and so many peaks and valleys, that the journey has been fantastically invigorating to behold.

As we get set to open a new homestand with the hopes of widening the gap between us and the Washington Nationals, take a moment to reflect on how lucky we are to be watching the Mets playing baseball at such a high level again in Flushing.

We are truly blessed with a team that is not only perfectly built for the kill today, but one that will continue to dominate in future seasons as well. We may just be witnessing the birth of our first ever Mets dynasty. Relish these moments, my friends.
