The Mets are getting some reinforcements on their West Coast road trip.

Manager Buck Showalter confirmed that right-handed starting pitcher Tylor Megill is en route to California and will join the Mets. He’ll likely pitch during their series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim that begins Friday.

Megill has been sidelined since May 12 with biceps tendinitis. He made a rehab start at Double-A Binghamton last week. In the start, Megill totaled 53 pitches over 3 and 2/3rds while striking out 5.

“He’s been good for a while, just trying to make sure he’s 100 percent,” Showalter said before Monday’s game against the Padres. “Will be able to go five-plus on first time out.”

Megill’s numbers are inflated after his last start when he departed due to injury. He allowed eight runs in 1 and 1/3rds innings, seeing his ERA blow up from 2.43 to 4.41.

While Megill has been out, Trevor Williams and David Peterson have picked up the slack. Each finding success while making spot starts.

Megill was the fourth Mets starting pitcher to hit the injured list this season following Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, and Taijuan Walker.

Megill’s return should only help a Mets team that already has a National League-best 37-19 record.
