The Mets have lost some depth up the middle as the Blue Jays have claimed infielder Ty Kelly off waivers, Toronto announced on Monday.

Kelly, 28, broke into the majors last season for the Mets, appearing in 39 games while slashing .241/.352/.345 in 71 plate appearances.

The switch-hitter broke camp with New York, making the Opening Day roster in 2017, but appeared in just one game before being designated for assignment on April 8.

Before making his Major League debut in 2016, Kelly appeared in 901 games in the minor leagues, hitting at a .280/.381/.380 clip over the span of eight seasons.
