Rawlings announced the 2022 Gold Glove finalists on Thursday afternoon with shocking snubs all around. None of Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil, or Luis Guillorme were finalists for Gold Glove awards.

It appears that Guillorme was not eligible because of the requirements listed by Rawlings: All infielders & outfielders must have played in the field for at least 698 total innings through his team’s 138th game. Guillorme was at 649 2/3 innings at that time.

However, Mets’ catcher Tomás Nido was a finalist alongside former Mets backstop Travis d’Arnaud and former future Met J.T. Realmuto.

Rawlings Gold Glove Awards are calculated based on a combination of voting by managers/coaches and SABR Defensive IndexTM.

I’m not entirely sure what the point of adding a Utility position is if you’re going to allow players that were finalists at other positions to be finalist for the new award as well.

The last time the Mets had a Gold Glove winner was center fielder Juan Lagares in 2014.

The winners will be announced on November 1 at 5:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
